But For the Grace of God, Go I

[this is good]
Nice write up. And to answer your question " Is the picture below what we really want for the United States, just so the rich can get richer?" my sentiment is always been no. We should be ashamed of ourselves for they consume also. And if they were paid a living wage they would consume even more.

I'm sorry, but this Boortz sounds like a total wanker who derives pleasure from the pain of others.

Surely someone in the US has a bullet with his name on it...

Good post! Boortz and the Navy Vet just shows that if you get your education from the talking heads on radio, Neal Boortz or Randi Rhoades, it is the song of fools.

"Is the picture below what we really want for the United States, just so the rich can get richer?" Libertine. This is coming whither we like it or not. Third world countries have political systems that do not allow the accumulation of wealth. We are slowly going in the same direction. All political parties, except the Libertarian Party, are carrying the water. Again, many see these concepts thru partisan eyes which is a major problem. It is always a conservative or socialist failure. It is 'us' failing. The citizen, the voter, the Fool!

Another thing this guys just doesn't get is that most folks really don't want to have to be in a position to ask for assistance. Everyone (generally) wants to be able to care for their own (I'm thinking of kids especially here, but it isn't limited.) It takes a lot of humility to swallow one's pride to look for help when you need it; it certainly doesn't help when you also then worry about what others (i.e. Boortz and his kind) will think of you. Grace, man. We all need it.

Boortz is a boob.

Um, guess that last comment wasn't so graceful, eh? :)
I'm guessing Boortz doesn't understand the difference between hand-out and helping hand? He is a boob and an A$$HOLE!

What kills me is when I was a single parent I worked. I tried not asking for help. I got day care on a sliding scale - that was the only assistance I got. I once tried to get heating assistance during the winter but at $9.00/hr full time, I made $25/wk too much. And in CT at the time (and still is the case) not even one person can live on $9.00/hr let alone and adult and two children.

Boortz is an idiot, people like the Navy Vet will eventually give back what they have been given. Eventually if she continues school and keeps working she will more then pay back any dime she has recieved from public assitance, considering my own anti-welfare views i can understand his disgust with helping those who are unwilling to help themselves and abuse the system but when you start putting hard working people who are trying to better themselves under that label, your part of the problem with welfare abuse and not part of the solution.
