I think employers just want to know you didnt just decide it was time to go to japan for vacation for 6 months. They may look at it as the person would not be dependable.

I agree with you but at the same time I don't, I feel like they should be able to ask what the gap was for, they don't want to waste their time picking someone that might one day decide they don't want to work for 6 months.

I keep my CV the way I see fit, if an employer doesn't like it then it's their loss.

I remember being somewhat impressed when I was looking for a teaching job and the ap asked about hobbies, philosophies and even what books I'd been reading. I assumed they meant things that applied to the job.

Of course, I didn't get that job so I figure they were just conning me and perhaps tring to gather info so they could send me spam.
